Science Assessment Task

Hello, welcome to my blog. The following blog you are about to see has information about electrolysis and refining copper by electrolysis a way of extracting metals and refining copper.

What is a method of extracting metals? One of many ways that metals is extracted is by electrolysis. What is electrolysis and how does it work? Heres a picture and a short cliphttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrjSBR4rhZA

The type of  metal/ore I have chosen is Copper. Copper will usually come in a goldish brown colour with a tint of blue/green. Copper is needed in our everyday lives as it is mostly in every item we see such as wiring computer chips, mobile phones, computers and in some form engines. Without copper we cannot have these objects or we would need a substitue as Copper is essential.
Name: Copper
Symbol: Cu
Atomic Number: 29
Element Category: Transition Metal
Substance: Solid
Extracted From: Sulfate Ore and Chalcopyrite

Electrolytic refining is a method of getting pure metals from electrolysis. In the procedure an electric current is passed through a solution called electrolyte that contains dissolved metals. This causes the dissolved metal to stay on the negatively charged cathode.
